AYURVEDIC KARKIDAGA KANJI / MEDICINAL PORRIDGE



Karkidaka Kanji, a traditional dish of Kerala is a good dietary supplement made during monsoon period. It act as a health tonic and helps in boosting your energy and stamina. .
Karkidaga kanji is one among the special dishes made during the period of monsoon in Kerala. It is also well known in the name of Marunnu Kanji (medicine porridge).  Nowadays, you can easily get Karkidaka kanji in packets from market. It is considered as a perfect health supplement for promoting the over all well being of person. Intake of this medicinal dish as a dietary supplement improves the production of cellular energy and enhance energy and stamina of person. This special dish made during monsoon period can be considered as a rejuvenating dish. It is found to be very effective and can be used by people of all ages.







INGREDIENTS

Navarra rice                                               - 1/2 cup
Broken wheat                                           -2 tablespoons
Whole mung beans                                - 2 tablespoons
Coconut milk                                           - 1/2 cup
Cow's milk                                                 - 1/2 cup
Ghee                                                             - 1 tablespoon
Salt                                                                -  1 tablespoon
Finely chopped small onions            - 2 nos
Jaggery                                                        - 1
Nutmeg                                                       - 1 tablespoon
Cumin seeds                                             - 1 tbsp
Dry ginger powder                                - 1 tbsp
star anice                                                   - 1 no
Coriander seeds                                     - 1 tbsp
Cumin                                                         - 1 tbsp
Cardomom                                              - 2 nos
Fenugreek                                                - 1 tbsp
Aashali                                                       -1 tbsp
Cloves                                                        -  4 nos









METHOD
Pressure cook the rice, broken wheat, and moong beans adding enough water.Now , add cow's milk to preparation and allow it to cook in low heat. Add jaggery, salt and other ingredients to the rice mixture.Boil it for a few minutes time and then remove from heat.Traditional Ayurvedic Karkidaka Kaji is now ready to serve.
